*E6887 Topics in Info. Processing: Classical and Quantum Error Correction
Coding*

*Course Description*
Study classical error correction coding principles and modern coding
techniques, including convolutional codes, Turbo codes, and low-density
parity-check (LDPC) codes.
Learn quantum error correction codes, a foundational component of quantum
computing, including Shor’s code, Calderbank-Shor-Steane (CSS) codes,
stabilizer codes, and basic quantum LDPC codes.

*Instructor*
This course will be taught by *Prof. Jin Hui*. (hj2704 at columbia.edu)

*Time and Location*
Tuesdays 1:10–3:40 PM, Hamilton Hall 603

*Prerequisites*
No familiarity with information theory and communications-related courses
will be assumed. The students are expected to be comfortable with linear
spaces, elementary probability, and elementary concepts in discrete
mathematics.
