Dear All,

Thank you for a nice intro class today. Some notes:

1. For those of you not registered for the class, please do so asap. This
is a required class and will not be offered to you in future semesters.

2. We discussed possible conflicts on Tuesday. To help with this, I will
keep the lab open on Mondays as well, 1-5 pm. If you would like to attend
the lab on Monday, please reply to me and let me know as soon as possible.
If I do not hear from you by Thursday, I will assume that Tuesday is your
preferred day.

3. We went over the experiments that are most relevant. I would like each
of you to reply to me letting me know your rank order choice of experiments
to perform. Based on these preferences and the availability of setups, I
will assign you two experiments to perform for the term. The experiments we
discussed are:
(a) quantum entanglement
(b) make your laser
(c) diamond nv spin manipulation
(d) measure superconductor properties
(e) superconducting Josephson junction/SQUID properties.
Please email me your choices by tomorrow night. Please include "5081" in
your subject line so I do not miss your email.

4. You will work in teams of two or three. Let me know if you have a
preference for partner(s).

I will circulate more details of the experiments later in the week.

With best wishes,
Abhay.
